Neighborhood History
Chinatown does not directly mean Chinese. Do you know it used to be a Italian neighborhood? and one of the most famous Italian used to church here a lot with his mother. Can you guess who that is? *wink* Over the years this area has developed into the largest population of Chinese in the eastern hemisphere. Now, the neighborhood is predominantly Cantonese, but a large amount of mandarin speaking, Taishaness and Taiwanese live and work in Chinatown. This diversity insures a huge variety of food and cultural traditions that continue to expand to this day.
